Our History:

The story of Not Impossible starts with our Founder. Mick Ebeling is an American inventor, entrepreneur, author, speaker, and philanthropist who focuses on developing groundbreaking technology that benefits humanity. Ebeling is the recipient of the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian of the Year Award and was named one of the “Top 50 Most Creative People” by Fortune Magazine, a WIRED Agent of Change, 2x SXSW Innovation Award winner, and a 2x Tribeca Disruptor Award winner.

Mick has stated that he has “made it his life mission to make the impossible not impossible” and so, in 2011, he founded Not Impossible Labs, an award-winning tech incubator and studio whose philosophy revolves around identifying absurdities and developing solutions designed to end these absurdities.

Not Impossible’s approach is to find your one: solve a challenge deeply and thoughtfully for a single individual, then solutions can be scaled to help many. This belief—now known as Help One, Help Many™—has become the cornerstone of Not Impossible’s work and has driven impact across healthcare, accessibility, food insecurity, and human connection.

Over the past decade, this approach has resulted in multiple globally recognized innovations, including three TIME Top Inventions of the Year:

  • EyeWriter (2010)
  • Bento (2021)
  • Music: Not Impossible (2023)

Not Impossible Labs’ first project, the EyeWriter, marked a breakthrough in assistive technology and also became the catalyst for the Not Impossible Foundation.

The Not Impossible Foundation:

Building on the momentum and proven impact of Not Impossible Labs, Mick founded the Not Impossible Foundation in 2019 as a non-profit organization dedicated to breaking down barriers and creating innovative solutions for the sake of humanity.

The Foundation focuses on addressing complex humanitarian challenges by combining innovation, technology, storytelling, and community collaboration. To date, we have made a demonstrable impact in healthcare accessibility, pioneering solutions ranging from low-cost prosthetics to assistive technologies that support individuals living with disabilities and conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and ALS.

Rooted in the belief that solving for one can unlock solutions for many, the Not Impossible Foundation exists to transform impossible challenges into scalable, real-world impact—expanding what’s possible for humanity.
